to the NHRF 2010 Activities Area!
So much to do, so little time...
or not! Sat. and Sun. we'll be open from 10am-5pm. On Saturday,
the 15th, be sure to come before the gates close at 5pm
if you'd like to stay for the Beltane Celebration too, at
6pm +/-.
Besides shopping and music and
singing there are many other fun things to do at the faire,
many of which are free! Here is a breakdown of some
of the activities in store for this year, please check back
regularly, though, because things will be added frequently:

Resa
Nelson
will be joining us this year! She is a local author
whose first novel, The Dragonslayer’s Sword,
was Recommended for the 2009 Nebula Award and was a
Finalist for the 2009 EPPIE Award for Best Fantasy Novel.
When researching this novel, she took a course in blacksmithing
and learned how to use medieval weapons at the Higgins
Armory Museum! Resa has been selling short fiction professionally
for 20 years, she is also the TV/Movie columnist for
Realms of Fantasy magazine and a regular contributor
to SCI FI magazine. To watch and hear her read the first
chapter of The Dragonslayer’s Sword online for free,

Resa
will be donating 4 books to th Wench and Strapping Young
Lad Auction and will be signing and selling her books.

Shire "Mytheries"
Hear ye' Hear ye' After the resounding success of
last year's game, Her Majesty has graciously allowed
it's return! All are welcome to play! So, come and try
your luck at the game of wits, Shire Mythteries! As
you seek the prize you will be challenged to solve the
mysterious riddles and perhaps learn a bit that you
didn't know before along the way!

Wench &
Strapping Young LadAuction
The aution will
be back in force, this year, with ALL proceeds going
to the Strafford SPCA! Thanks to our merchants,
Candlewick Press and Gamewright Games for your donations
for the auction!

"Page Me!"
Neville and Companye
will be taking stock of the suitable bairds / wee folks
of the shire and see if any are worthy of the title
of "page" and to start on the path to knighthood!
They will also be happy to discuss some of the steps
in the long, but worthwhile, journey! For more info.

The Bonnie Weaver
The Bonnie Weaver
will be spinning her threads of all sorts of materials
and demonstrating the fine art of weaving. Pat, (the
Bonnie Weaver), is from New Hampshire and has a wonderful
loom that she loves to show. Drop on by her booth and
say "hi!". Pat will also be selling some of
her pieces that have been crafted!

Tea with the
Queen
The Queen, being
of a gracious and kind nature, has been so winderful
as to offer up her personal time so that she make take
tea with some of the common folk and wee ones.
Truly an exciting
time to meet Her Majesty and be able to sit with her!

Silverleaf Leather:
(demo. 1st weekend only)
Christopher
Goguen from
Silverleaf Leather will be demonstrating
the art of leather crafting throughout the day, turning
simple tanned leather into the finished items. Every
step from the initial cutting to the final finishing
touches are done by hand with basic tools!

Blacksmith!
We'll have a smith
joining us this year for the second weekend, please
stop by and welcome Jack
Paige to the faire! He and his wife, Marylin, will
be on site, demonstrating the trade as well as sharing
a little of it's history with us.
|

Lost Art Chains
Alexander Pettengill,
of Lost Art Chains, will be demonstrating chain mail
weaves on small and large items, throughout both weekends.
Alexander works with various metals and can demonstrate
European weaves as well as Japanese mesh etc.. Stop
on by and aks Alex about the different chain mail and
mesh techniques!

note that most of our merchants handcraft their own
work, from Pete at Cornerstone to Creations to
Kate at Antika Nueva, MaryAnne at WulfeMoon to Gypsy~Rose,
(from GypsyRoses.Org).
Marc from Hickory Arms and all of the people from
Chaos Dwarf and many in between! Some merchants will
be doing their handiwork during the faire but, if
not, please feel free to ask them about their creative
process... we have some wonderfully talented people!
