Have you ever wanted to be part of the Faire, but didn’t know where to start? Volunteering is a great way to get your foot in the door. There are many opportunities available.

Important Details

  • All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
  • There are some camping spaces available during the weekends of the Faire. More information will be shared directly with volunteer applicants.
  • All volunteers must be in Faire-appropriate garb during all hours that the Faire is open. We have a very limited amount of loaner garb. Please let us know on your volunteer application form if you need to borrow some, or if you need some guidance on what to wear.

Before and after faire
We’ll be hosting “work parties” before the Faire opens to get the Faire site ready, in between the two weekends to clean up and prepare for the second weekend, and then after the Faire’s over to clean up, breakdown, and put everything away. We’ll be working to setting up stages, putting up signs and fences, cleaning up the landscape, and more. Vendors, cast members, performers, and Faire volunteers are all welcome! (We call it a party because it’s great company and we provide lunch – usually pizza – and refreshments!)

Work parties will be at the following times. Work day volunteers must be able to lift and carry heavy things like stage parts, tables, benches, etc.

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5
  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 11
  • One weekday between faire weekends (TBD)
  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 21

During the Faire
All volunteers are expected to pitch in where needed to help make NHRF a successful event and enjoyable experience. Here are some of the areas we’ll be needing volunteers:

  • Faire Mom Helpers: Bring snacks and water around to vendors, performers, and volunteers. Cover vendors for quick privy or food breaks if needed.
  • Front gate: Responsible for selling tickets, stamping hands, keeping track of how many patrons come through the gate, taking tickets, and welcoming patrons to the Faire. You will also assist Security with “peace binding” weapons.
  • General volunteers: Keep the grounds clean, collect trash, fill water coolers, and pitch in when needed.
  • Kids Area: Kids Area crew will “entertain” our wee patrons in the Kids Gaming Glen, with games, crafts, and face painting. (Requires a commitment to at least three of the four faire days.)
  • Merchandise booth staff: Requires experience with cash handling in a retail setting.
  • Security: Security personnel will, aside from normal Security duties, “peace bind” weapons, “keep the peace”, and assist patrons and Faire personnel as needed. (Requires a commitment to at least three of the four faire days.)
  • Ticket booth: Requires experience with cash handling in a retail setting and a commitment to at least three of the four faire days.
  • Volunteers Food Tent: We’ve got a food tent just for our volunteers. The food tent volunteers will keep the food and supplies stocked and sanitary, and keep the area clean through the day.

Thanks so much for your interest in volunteering! If you have any questions regarding volunteering, please contact Lynne Johnson at volunteers@nhrenfaire.com
